Protests erupt at Buddhism’s holiest site over Hindu control of shrine

The minorities in India continue to feel insecure, as evidenced by recent protests by Buddhists.

Buddhists, a victim of Indian tyranny, are protesting against Hindu control of the Mahabodi Temple at India’s most sacred ruins.

According to the arrangement, the temple managed under the Bodhi Gaia Temple Act of 1949 was managed by an eight-person committee, with Hindu and Buddhists equally.

Protesters demanded full control of Buddhist control, believing that the Hindu rituals held in the temple violated Buddhist traditions.

Recent protests have intensified police forcefully evacuated monks for hunger strikes due to possession of the site.
Bodh Gaya Math of the Hindu monastery defends his role with historic preservation efforts.

Hindu monks see the protests as politically driven, but demonstrators remain determined.
