US reaffirms support for Pakistan’s fight against terrorism

Federal Interior Secretary Mohsin Naqvi met with Acting U.S. Ambassador Natalie Baker on Thursday to discuss Pakistan-U.S. relations, counter-terrorism efforts and mutual cooperation.

The meeting was held in the presence of Home Secretary Talal Chaudhry, U.S. political adviser Zach Harkenrider and Federal Home Secretary Khurram Agha.

At the meeting, Ambassador Baker strongly condemned the Jaafar Express attack and other recent terrorist incidents and expressed condolences to the victims’ families.

She reiterated our support for Pakistan’s counter-terrorism struggle and stressed the need for global cooperation to address this challenge.

Discussions also include plans to hold counter-terrorism dialogues in June and strategies to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

Earlier this month, U.S. President Donald Trump praised Pakistan for helping the United States arrest a senior Daesh surgical worker involved in the 2021 bombing of Kabul airport, which killed 13 U.S. service workers.

The bombing at Kabul Airport in 2021 also killed at least 170 Afghans along with American soldiers who tried to help Americans and Afghans escape after the chaos of the Taliban acquisition.

Nakwi said at a meeting with US diplomats today that Pakistan is taking decisive action against terrorists and developing a comprehensive counter-terrorism policy.

He also acknowledged the U.S. appreciation for Pakistan’s efforts to combat terrorism.

In addition, the meeting also addressed the issue of undocumented Pakistanis in the United States, and Naqvi ensured comprehensive cooperation in repatriation.

It was also announced that the PAK-US Caucus Meeting will be held in New York on April 30 to further strengthen the strategic ties between the two countries.

Ambassador Baker also praised the ongoing development projects in Islamabad and recognized Pakistan’s commitment to economic and infrastructure progress.

This high-level engagement underscores the deepening strategic partnership between Pakistan and the United States, especially in security and counter-terrorism efforts.
