London: Dan Norris, the ruling Labor Party of England, was suspended by the party for alleged rape and other sexual offences, including suspected crimes dating back to the 2000s.
A man in his 60s was arrested on Friday for allegedly targeting girls, kidnappings of children and misconduct in public office, police said.
“Most of the crimes allegedly occurred in the 2000s, but we also investigated allegedly rape crimes that began in the 2020s,” the force added.
Labor confirmed on Saturday night that they have suspended MPs in Somerset and Ham in south-east England.
A party spokesman said: “The MP Dan Norris was suspended by Labor immediately after being told that he was arrested. We cannot comment further when the police investigation is underway.”
Norris, 65, was elected to parliament in 2024, defeating high-profile Conservative MP Jacob Rees-Mogg.
He previously served in parliament and served as junior minister for former Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
