Donald Trump’s turbulent return to the White House will face a test of popularity in an election in Wisconsin that saw Elon Musk, the most famous aide to the U.S. president, pay millions of dollars in checks to voters.

Since taking power in January, Trump has overseen radical reforms, dismantling much of the federal government, subverting foreign policy and launching a trade war, which has the potential to reignite inflation.

The president’s goal of targeting immigration, judges, “awakening” culture, and any critics has been praised by his supporters but has not yet faced a major test among voters.

Wisconsin-elected judge-in-come conservative Brad Schimel, who joined the state’s Supreme Court, versus liberal Susan Crawford.

The outgoing judge has received Democratic support, so Schimel’s victory will tilt the court’s rights, while Crawford will retain his liberal tendency.

Musk believes that consolidating Trump’s national agenda requires a conservative victory, and that the Supreme Court’s campaign may have an impact on the congressional areas of swing states ahead of next year’s midterm elections.

Trump’s Republican in Washington has a smaller lead in the House of Representatives and Senate.

Trump attacked Crawford on social media on Monday, accusing her of “making it easy for child harassers and rapists.”

“She will be one of the most liberal judges ever, and it will be a disaster for Wisconsin and the United States of America,” he said.

Also on Tuesday, Florida voters will elect two Republican and two districts House members, evacuated by Trump’s national security adviser Mike Waltz and his original nominee Matt Gaetz.

The most expensive game

The Wisconsin poll is expected to end, with Trump nearly defeating his Democratic rival Kamala Harris in last year’s presidential election to vote in the state by less than 30,000 votes.

Musk spent about $277 million on Trump’s campaign, and he piled up more resources into the Wisconsin vote.

He has distributed two $1 million bonus checks to voters and also offered $100 to voters who signed the petition against the “radical judge.”

Schimel and its supporters have spent more than $49.7 million, including $12.2 million from Musk’s America PAC, according to the Brennan Justice Center.

Crawford’s campaign and supporters spent about $400.3 million.

The institute said spending makes Wisconsin’s game the most expensive in U.S. judicial history.

Crawford accused Tesla boss Musk of seeking to buy a seat in the state Supreme Court to wield the judgment in support of its company.

Cases regarding electric vehicle manufacturers filed auto dealerships may go to court.

Musk spoke at Sunday’s campaign rally, positioning the front and center of the country’s political background.

“What happened on Tuesday was a vote on political parties to control the U.S. House of Representatives,” Musk declared. He believes Congress is so balanced that Wisconsin seats can be decided by the majority in mid-2026.

The billionaire’s Green Bay rally attracted a passionate crowd, but the South African-born oligarchs’ role in the Wisconsin election has caused as much resistance as support.

Retired electrical engineer Rob Patterson, 65, held up a sign at a pro-Crawford rally showing Musk giving a straightforward tribute.

The sign reads: “Our Supreme Court will not sell.”
