Australia’s PM set to call election ‘imminently’

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said he plans to call the national election “coming soon” the deadline for the election of a new parliament on May 17, and is about to approach quickly.

“I can guarantee it in May,” Albanese told Triple M on Thursday.

“I’m not on the phone today, but I’ll call it as soon as possible. I think Australians want to keep going.”

Albanis plans to visit Governor Sam Mostyn’s in Canberra on Friday to call the election, the Sydney Morning Herald and Australian newspapers reported.

Albanis must obtain the authorization of Mostin to disband the parliament and announce the general election as governor, King Charles of England (the official head of state of Australia).

Australians reported that the vote will take place on May 3, although Albany’s office has not commented on the claim yet.

The Albanes Labor Party has taken a series of measures to appease voters as they prepare to polls amid the high cost of living.

On Tuesday, the government announced two new rounds of tax cuts in the federal budget, worth $17.1 billion ($10.7 billion), and those who earn average income will be eligible for a tax cut ($170) of 268-Australian tax ($170) and a 536-Auustralian-utustralian-Dollar-Dollar cut (338).

Despite its popularity, the cuts remain modest than the tax relief of 1,654-Australian tax ($1,044) introduced in the current fiscal year.

Peter Dutton, leader of the opposition Liberal National Alliance, said his party cut fuel excise tax by half, calling it a “real, direct relief” that could save families with a vehicle of $750 ($473) over the year.

Dutton said fuel excise tax would be reduced on the day he took office for 12 months if elected prime minister.
