During his visit to Italy, U.S. Vice President JD Vance expressed solidarity with Christians around the world.
“I just learned about the death of Pope Francis. My heart pays tribute to millions of Christians around the world. I was very happy to see him yesterday (Sunday), although he was obviously sick. But I will always remember him….”
Meanwhile, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni mourned the departure of “a great man, a great shepherd”.
“I have the honor of enjoying his friendship, his advice, his teachings, even during the period of judgment and suffering,” Meloni said in a statement.
French President Emmanuel Macron said in a message about the occasion: “The entire pope of Francis always supported the most vulnerable and vulnerable, and he did this with humility. In the war and barbarity of this era, he had a feeling of others, the most vulnerable.”
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute to the Pope of the Dead, saying: “Pope Francis will forever be remembered as a beacon of millions of sympathy, humility and spiritual courage for millions of the world.
“He worked hard to serve the poor and overwhelmed. For those who suffered, he ignited the spirit of hope. German Chancellor Fredrich Merz said Pope Francis is remembered for his unremitting commitment to the weakest members of society.
“He was humbled and faith in God’s mercy,” said Meles in an article on X.
Pablo Virgilio David, president of the Philippine Catholic Bishops’ Conference, was deeply shocked by the news of Pope Francis’ death.
“Let us call our church bells and call our people to pray for the eternal rest of the Father Pope Francis, about ten minutes.”
