U.S. President Donald Trump said on Sunday he hopes Russia and Ukraine can reach a peace deal within a week, which provides the prospect of major business opportunities for the United States if they do so AFP Report.

Trump posted on The Society of Truth: “Hopefully Russia and Ukraine will reach an agreement this week.” “Then both will start to do big business with the United States of America, which is booming and bringing wealth.”

Trump warned on April 18 that the United States would get rid of negotiations if both sides stagnate. “If for some reason one of the two parties makes it very difficult … we will only pass.”

The comments were released during the Easter truce announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported more than 2,000 violations and proposed a ban on long-term attacks. The Kremlin has not responded yet.

Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky rejected the ceasefire, a “media stunt” designed to make Trump rest in peace. Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that if progress is not made, Washington may give up on its efforts.

The Trump administration has emphasized economic incentives throughout its mediation efforts. After a March call with Putin, the White House stressed the potential of a “huge economic deal” between the United States and Russia.

Trump is also supporting a mineral deal with Ukraine, which will enable the United States to gain widespread natural resource income in exchange for previous military support. This agreement does not include security warranties.
