Sharjah: A tragic fire in a high-rise residential building in the Al Nahda community claimed the lives of five people, including the life of a Pakistani worker, while 19 other workers were injured, two of whom remained in critical condition.
“The fire broke out at about 11:30 a.m. when Sharjah police received an emergency call reporting the flames shot from the penthouse,” police said in a statement.
Officials said the injured were being treated at Al Qasimi Hospital, an incident that authorities have investigated, while forensic experts have examined the site to determine the cause of the fire.
Witnesses said a fire broke out on the top floor of the 52-story building, which housed about 1,500 residents of different races.

UAE authorities expressed condolences in a statement, saying: “We express our heartfelt sympathy for the families of the deceased and share their sorrow during this difficult time.”

In April 2023, 16 people were injured in a residential fire in Dubai. According to the Abu Dhabi-based newspaper, the fire engulfed one of Dubai’s oldest Dubai areas, one of Dubai’s oldest areas, and the five-story building near Al-Ras engulfed the five-story building.
Sharjah is one of the seven emirates that make up the UAE, and several residential compounds and hotels have been hit by fire in recent years.
In some of these cases, experts say the flame may be encouraged to be propagated by the outer cladding.
