
London: UK Treasury Secretary Rachel Reeves said she hopes to build stronger relations with the EU and warned that new U.S. tariffs could seriously damage the UK and global economies.
The British Minister said this in his column Observerto be published on Sunday. She said she wanted to establish “an ambitious new relationship” with the EU while still negotiating a trade agreement with the United States.
In another post in Saturday’s Reeves column, Observer The Treasury Secretary wrote that tariffs proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump will have a “deep” impact on the UK and the world economy.
Reeves would say that she “has no fantasy about the difficulties ahead.” Observer.
“Labor is an internationalist party. We understand the benefits of freedom, fair trade and cooperation. It’s not the time to turn us away from the world.”
The Finance Minister plans to advocate for a “more balanced global economic and trade system” at the upcoming International Monetary Fund meeting later this month.
Britain’s economy recovered from growth in 11 months with its fastest expansion, beating economists’ expectations and putting it on a firmer basis as it boasts about the impact of tariffs.
Meanwhile, UN Trade Director Pamela Coke-Hamilton said Friday that tariffs and countermeasures could have a “disastrous” impact on developing countries, which is more difficult than attacks to cut foreign aid.
