Israeli troops kill Palestinian teenagers in the West Bank to keep the body and family
Israeli troops seized the body of a 16-year-old Palestinian boy who was shot on Thursday night, the 22nd Palestinian child killed by Israeli forces since the beginning of the year.
The Palestinian Children’s International Defense (DCIP) said the victim Jihad Adham Rebhi Adeli was shot dead in an Israeli ambush near the town of Osarin in the south of Nablus.
Israeli forces also prevented ambulance personnel from reaching the scene where the teenager was shot.
“Now, even in death, the jihad cannot rest, as Israeli authorities prevented his family from burying their bodies and mourning him,” DCIP’s Abu Eqtaish said in a statement.
Now, the teenager’s body joins the remains of 41 other Palestinian children killed by Israeli forces since 2016, whose bodies have been confiscated by the army without returning to his family.
The DCIP said Israel’s policy of confiscating Palestinian bodies not only violates international law, but is seen as a cruel means of “collective punishment” for grieving families.
